MEET AMANDA
Amanda Fontana is a mom, educator, and social worker running for State Representative in Ohio House District 51 because she’s lived the challenges too many families are still facing today. She knows what it’s like to worry about rising grocery prices, access to healthcare, and whether your kids are getting the support they need in the classroom. As a parent of a child with disabilities and a proud product of working-class grit, Amanda is stepping up to make sure no family feels unseen or left behind by the system. Her campaign is rooted in the belief that government should serve the people, not the powerful.
Amanda brings deep experience from both the classroom and the community. She teaches in the Health and Public Services Division at Stark State College and serves as an independent provider through the Department of Developmental Disabilities. On the New Philadelphia City Schools Board of Education, she’s worked to improve equity, support teachers, and expand services for students with disabilities. Now, Amanda is ready to take that fight to the Statehouse, to lower costs for working families, fully fund public education, and make sure every Ohioan has access to affordable housing and healthcare. She’s not just running to represent the district, she’s running to deliver real results for it.

Amanda knows that when the state underfunds our schools, the burden falls directly on local homeowners. As a Board of Education member, she sees how this cycle drives up property taxes and squeezes families. Amanda will fight to fully fund Ohio’s public schools at the state level to provide permanent tax relief for residents while ensuring every student, including those with disabilities, has the resources and safe learning environments they deserve.

From the grocery aisle to monthly utility bills, the cost of everyday life is rising too fast. Amanda has lived these pressures and believes Ohio must focus on practical solutions that put families first. She will advocate for property tax reform, affordable housing initiatives, and local job growth to ensure our economy works for everyone. Her goal is simple: making Ohio a place where working families can afford to thrive, not just get by.

Healthcare should provide peace of mind, not financial ruin. Drawing on her experience as a social worker and disability advocate, Amanda understands the high cost of navigating complex care systems. She will fight to lower prescription drug costs, expand mental health services, and protect Medicaid. By strengthening funding for disability services and early intervention, she will ensure that seniors on fixed incomes and families with special needs can access the care they need without sacrificing their financial security.
